Welcome to St. John the Evangelist

The Parish Church for North Holmwood, Goodwyns, Rough Rew, Chart Downs and the surrounding communities.

As well as services on Sundays and midweek, we have a range of other activities and the church is open every day for anyone to enjoy the peace and take the opportunity for quiet prayer.

Next to the Holmwood Common, St John’s is a Victorian church in a lovely setting, with a contemporary community building next door, which hosts activities for all throughout the week.

Annual Church Meeting (APCM)

Please join us on Sunday 26 April at midday for St John’s APCM. This is a chance to hear about what we at StJNH have done over the past year, and to learn about our plans for the future. There is also formal business to be conducted, including election of churchwardens, PCC members and Deanery Synod representatives. The annual financial statements will also be presented.

Family Eucharist, Sundays at 10am

10am Family Eucharist - also broadcast on our Facebook page

Our Family Eucharist every Sunday morning at 10am is quite informal, uses Common Worship liturgy and contemporary worship is led by our band.

Activity packs and toys are available for children to use in the pews or in the carpeted area at the back of church. Primary school aged children have great fun at Baking through the Bible and Building through the Bible on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month in the adjacent Community Building.

After the service, we enjoy coffee, tea and biscuits in the Community Building.

Book of Common Prayer, Sundays at 8am

Early every Sunday, we gather in the Chancel for our Book of Common Prayer service.

This spoken service, without music, provides a quiet and reflective space to celebrate the Lord’s Day and share holy communion.

Midweek Eucharist, Wednesdays at 9am

Midweek Eucharist, Wednesdays at 9am

The midweek service is a welcome pause in the week to come together, worship and share holy communion.

The service is followed by fellowship over hot drinks and biscuits in the Community Building. All welcome.
